Glue Ear
Children who
suffer the pain and misery associated with this common condition may now
enjoy effective relief following the development of a totally new
approach to treatment.
Many children suffer a recurring cycle of colds, ear infections and
antibiotic treatments. This often leads to learning difficulties due to
hearing problems and may require surgery to insert grommets in the ear.
Research shows that this cycle can now be broken.
A six year research project involving the treatment of 150 children
resulted in a success rate of over 90% and led to the setting up of a
nation-wide network of specially trained Osteopaths able to carry out
the specialised treatment. Terry Rulten was among the first to undergo
this training.
What is new and exciting about this form of treatment is that as well as
treating the child directly, one or both parents are trained to carry
out a simple routine of gentle techniques every day on their child over
a four week period.
This intensive treatment is not only very effective, but great fun for
both the child and parent. At the first sign of a cold or infection, the
parent restarts treatment to help prevent the problem returning.
Children who already have grommets may be treated in the same way to
keep the child healthy once the grommets come out.
